There’s something special about standing on a peak that’s both part of a range and defiantly apart from it — welcome to Mount Kipipiri. Sitting at about 3,348–3,349 meters, Kipipiri is a solitary volcanic cone on the Kinangop Plateau, separated from the bulk of the Aberdare Range by valleys and clear air. From its forested slopes you’ll work your way up through mossy woodland and thick greenery, passing shy monkeys, thick bird calls, maybe even spotting buffalo or elephant if luck is on your side.

As you climb, the forest gives way to open highlands, rocky crags, and wide views — not the usual towering backdrop, but rolling plateaus and distant hills that shift with the light. The summit’s sense isn’t just about altitude; it’s about escape: escape from city noise, escape

from crowded trails, escape into quiet that lets you hear your own breath and the wind. Mount Kipipiri isn’t the easiest walk, but it rewards those who lace up with patience and curiosity. This is where you go to breathe, to see, to feel alive in every sweaty step — the quiet ranger of Aberdares, offering solitude, scenery, and stories in equal measure.

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.

This is the best tour on the east coast! It was amazing how many places we visited and what great memories we made!
